Wanted: Feedback, Reward: tees

So, Shirtcity has relaunched, allright. Of course we didn't do this for the pure fun of it, we wanted our customers to have the best T-shirt shopping experience. Now since we're really eager to know how you think about the all new Shirtcity 2009 and of course we want to spread the word - and we want you to help us.
Here's how it works :

You blog? Fine. How about sharing your opinion not only with us but also with your readers? Browse through our new site, tell us how you like the new look and feel. Does it make you want to shop and spend more time? What categories do like the most? How do you get along with the new shirt designer?

We'll reward every blog post that gives an opinion about the new Shirtcity site with a free tee or a coupon, depending on how elaborate and differentiated it is. Shirtcity has relaunched

Now you wonder what's up, don't you? Change has come to Shirtcity. After long months of planning, trying, designing and dealing with long lines of code (a big shout out to our programmer's team here who even worked in night shifts!) we present to you the fourth all new version of Shirtcity. While the direction in the previous updates was all "bigger, better, larger, more", we focussed on keeping the things simple, clear and easy to use. Here's what's new in Shirtcity 2009:

While the previous version consisted of four basic elements (five, if you count the starting page), we have stripped the new one down to the two basic ones: Shirtcity's custom branded tees: shirts the way you want them. And the community branded tees by Scribtee.com: Nice designs for design lovers, created and selected by the Scribtee community. What has been MyShirtcity you'll find in the header tab "open shop": here you can open, edit and administrate your ShirtcityShop like you're used to. The ShirtcityClub has gone for now. Right now we're working on a way to present the -sometimes really awesome- user designs to use, meanwhile it's more important than ever to make good publicity for your Shirtcity partner shop to promote your designs.

When starting Shirtcity.com, what you find is this new section, maybe the most important change in the new Shirtcity. The idea of it: We are fond of our designs and think they deserve better than being presented like a clipart collection. They're designed to make good shirts to suit every taste. The new shop allows T-Shirt shopping without much fussing. You browse through the designs and find what you like. Remark that the most designs are presented on model photos so you can get a realistic idea of what the shirts look like. Thousands of photos have been shot in Berlin and Barcelona over the past weeks to make this possible. To help you find your favourite designs easier, please take note of the

Here our designs are presented in categories. For example, if you're looking for a nice gift for your beloved one, for Valentine's day or your anniversary, click on the tag "love". All the categories are easily accessible and linkable with URLs in the form of  http://www.shirtcity.com/love.  Under a lovingly crafted header you'll find all the designs in the corresponding category. Browse through the pages. When you find a shirt that you like and want to order, click on it. This opens the

Of course, the Shirtcity never sleeps and it never stops evolving. So we and especially our faithful programmer's team are not going to take a rest, though well deserved. But before we set our aims to the next projects on Shirtcity we are thrilled to see what you think of the new site. You're welcome to have a walk around and try the new features.

Back from the dead

Isn't it a strange thing? Normally we behave quite intolerant towards humans who came back from the dead: we shoot them with firearms, smash them to a pulp with metal bars or at least run for our lives. However, there's an exception to everything and so one undead has managed to gain incredible popularity. Isn't there any suspicion that maybe he  .... only wants our brains?

Let's keep a healthy amount of scepticism towards this phenomenon. Meanwhile, here are some basic lessons on the undead:

And the Oscar goes to ...

Let's say two people, a man and a woman, walk up a brightly lit stage, spotlights following. Both wear extremely expensive fancy dresses and both burst with style and charisma. Under massive cheer and applause of a huge crowd they walk their way to a podium. The woman clears her throat then bends over the microphone to annonce:

"Shirtcity's video contest has found its end and we were not disappointed. Once again our worldwide community has proven its creativity."

The man adds: "And just as we expected the incoming videos covered a wide range of styles. Mini drama, animation or just experi... mental " (laughter)

"You were great! We'd like to thank everybody who participated. Thank you, each and every one of you!" (applause)

Smart and charming woman: "And now, without further ado, we'd like to announce the winners of 2008's Shirtcity T-Shirt-video contest. The main prize of 1000 Euro goes to ..."

(tension)

"... Felix Müller for his video 'Wear your own style!' " (fanfares, standing ovations)


"We sincerely hope that he has recovered from his pneumonia that he has most likely gotten shooting this video. (laughter) With this award we'd like to honor the good idea, the great execution and the music contributed by the man himself!"  

(Shake hands, handing out award, music, frenzy. After the scene calmed down again:)

We have more winners. The silver medal and the special price in the categories "best animation" and "best art direction" are awarded with 50€ and a Magix Video Deluxe-software package. And this goes to:

"... for her beautiful execution of a Shirt-city! A city made of shirts!" (applause)

2008: The T-shirts of the Year (2)

So let's continue looking back at the year. Today we'll present you the top sellers in 2008 (in all countries, as of 12/19/2008) and what it might tell us about the year. 

The Top Ten T-Shirts in 2008 are:

Free tibet T-shirt

Number 10: Free Tibet - Clearly one of the year's hottest topics. Especially before and during the Olympic summer games in Beijing there was a lot of talk about human rights and the misdeeds of the Chinese regime against the (mostly) peaceful highland folks of Tibet. Their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has grown to be something like a world wide pop star. The demand for "Free Tibet"-T-Shirts (and this was only one of them!) lasted until months after the games. And even with diminished public interest in the conflict, maybe the attention has done some good: there's hope for new dialogues concerning the status of Tibet.

Voodoo Doll T-Shirt
Number 9: The Voodoo Doll. A design that we have already been offering for a long time. Voodoo dolls have gathered some attention in France this year: Dolls with the face of French president Nicolas Sarkozy have become a huge seller. Mr le président was not amused and, maybe annoyed by continuing pains in his chest, tried to have them banned - but in vain.

(Of course that's just a funny newsline, we don't believe this news has anything to do with the T-shirt.)

It's a long tradition that, besides getting through the pre-xmas frenzy, December ist traditionally the month to look back. Every December we're getting shown long lists and charst of songs, albums, people and headlines of the year. As a T-Shirt company all we can give you is this:

Steven Quincy Urkel, aka "Urkel", with his large thick glasses, pants held high by suspenders, cardigan sweater and his high pitched voice.  He was your stereotypical nerd yet he made a lasting impression among many of todays twenty-somethings, including myself. 

Shirtcity has chosen to immortalize The Urkel by granting him his own tshirt.  Wear this shirt proudly knowing no matter how clumsy and dorky you are can still be infamous in your own unique way.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Shirtcity has designed a special shirt to commemorate the 2008 Bejiing Olympics and it was just activated today.  Even the Olympics are not safe from the brutal humor of our designers.  We highlight some of China's favorite pastimes which include but are not limited to the following:  State brutality/genocide, monumental pollution, internet censorship, and everyones favorite, dictatorship.

I may not agree with China's politics or how they treat their citizens but I freaking LOVE The Olympics.  I'll watch the staples that are gymnastics, swimming, diving, and track and field but I prefer the more obscure sports such as Handball.  I don't know the first thing about international Handball competition but from what I've read Croatia is the team to beat.
 

The Games are already under way and I plan on being attached to my TV and/or computer to make sure I don't miss a second.  The Opening Ceremonies will be broadcasted tonight so I'll  give you a little taste of what to expect.
